Dear Colleagues,
The 18th Meeting of the European Society for Animal Cell Technology entitled "Animal Cell Technology Meets Genomics" will be held in Granada, Spain, May 11-14, 2003. The three main components of this meeting: scientific programme, trade exhibition and social programme have been planned to provide in a short time un up-date on the advances in Animal Cell Technology, both at the basic and applied levels, and an opportunity of interaction between the people attending the meeting. Specific attention will be put on the analysis of the impact of Genomics technologies in ACT. Particularly, a pre-meeting activity on genomics is offered to those attendants wishing to have an insight in these techniques.
Each of the various sessions will feature invited speakers as well as contributions from speakers chosen by the scientific committee from submitted abstracts. As in previous years, the poster sessions are also sure to generate a lot of interest, and will provide good opportunities for discussion. A poster prize will be organized as in previous meetings. There will be one session on basic cellular mechanisms and four sessions on the main fields of application of ACT. I encourage you to read the session descriptions in the following pages, in order to decide the most suitable session in which to submit your contributions. As in previous meetings, both academic researchers as well as scientists from industry will be present. A specific programme of bursaries has been prepared to stimulate the attendance of young scientists. Some of the most eminent scientists in their field will also participate in the scientific programme.
Francesc Godia
